Do you ever…

Do you ever read your bible…
only to close it and not remember what you have read?
Do you ever wonder why there are so many different bibles…
and don’t know which one you should use?
Do you ever wish you had a closer…stronger relationship with God…
but don’t know how get it?

Most of us could answer yes to the above questions.  At the  ABW’s Summer Conference this past weekend I had the privilege of  leading a workshop where we discussed how inductive bible study could help us to remember what we have read and develop a closer, stronger relationship with God.  The all handouts from the workshop are available for the next 10 days under the Ministry Resources / Women tab.  I hope you will find them helpful.

To the women of the Central Region–I came to teach you, but I left encouraged and thankful by my time with you.

Thank you!

Sherry

Gifted by God!

God has gifts for us!

First is the gift of salvation… righteousness through Jesus Christ

Romans 5:15 But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many.                                   16 The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification.   17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.  18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.   19 For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.  20 The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,   21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sine is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Second, is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38  Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Third, we are given a spiritual gift.

1 Corinthians 1:4 I thank my God always concerning you for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus,       5 that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge,  6 even as the testimony concerning Christ was confirmed in you,   7 so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, awaiting eagerly the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,  8 who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What is a spiritual gift?  How can I know I have one?

The best way to learn more about spiritual gifts, is to study some key New Testament passages ( Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Peter 4:10-11 and Ephesians 4:1-16).
